LPG consumers have time till August 15 to submit documents and make corrections if their LPG connection has been suspended. July 21st 2011, the department of food, civil supplies and consumer affairs commissioner notified the consumers that a beneficiary’s LPG connection has been suspended; it is either due to wrong data entry by the department or the consumer’s failure to submit documents. The documents which are to be submitted are electricity meter RR number, LPG consumer number and ration card details.
Still many of the LPG Consumers in Bangalore have been submitting the documents either by logging on to the department website or by visiting the nearest taluk or deputy director’s office. However, due to heavy load on the department website, many others found it difficult to submit the documents in time.
The food, civil supplies and consumer affairs department has made it clear that there will not be more extension of deadline. However, officials promised not to disconnect supply immediately.
The food, civil supplies and consumer affairs department additional director said “We are not stopping connections immediately after the deadline. There will be a verification process and customers will be intimated before disconnection. If they haven’t submitted documents, we will issue a notice before the disconnection”. He also said 4, 54,295 connections have been cleared and 68,199 are to be verified.
Below are the reasons for suspending the gas connection:
- Electricity meter RR number hasn’t been furnished
- Non-domestic electricity meter numbers are submitted
- More than one ration card or LPG consumer number is linked to one EM-RR number
- Beneficiaries are the same Address in the ration card or domestic LPG connection and address in the electricity meter RR number are different.
These will be considered as violation either under Clause 3 of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order 2000, or Clause 3 of Karnataka (Prevention of Unauthorized Possession of Ration Cards) Order 1977, or both.
Please check your LPG Connection status by visiting the department website http://ahara.kar.nic.in and then by clicking the link ‘click here to verify your LPG and ration card status’, and update RR number etc., if required. There’s an online option to rectify mistakes, if any in the database.
